Gamelan Madu Sari/Vancouver Community Gamelan

Repertoire: Traditional and new works. Kyai Madu Sari, The Venerable Essence of Honey. Initially led by the late Martin Bartlett. Group formed after Expo '86, when Simon Fraser University received the event's Javanese gamelan. In the 80s and 90s, a gender batel group was formed. Kyai Madu Sari continues to be used to teach Javanese music courses at SFU, longest-term teacher being Sutrisno Hartana.
