“Prepare Your Bandwidth!”: Teaching Gamelan Online at ISI Surakarta

This article describes how ISI Surakarta adapted gamelan education to online formats during the COVID-19 pandemic. Faculty developed lesson plans, study modules, video tutorials, and a dedicated YouTube channel to continue teaching theory and practice remotely. Challenges included lack of internet access, data costs, and the difficulty of teaching beginners without access to large instruments. Despite obstacles, the process produced valuable recordings of senior faculty, fostered new technological skills, and suggested ways online tools can supplement traditional in-person learning in the future.
