5 (Lima) (2004–2006) is a semi-improvisatory work for rebab, gender barung, gambang, kempul, gongs, and computer. The composition draws on the structure of pathetan, using destination tones to shape melodic flow, while processed sound files from the computer create real-time interaction among players. The staging reflects the Javanese concept sedulur papat, lima pancer—the self at the center with four guiding spirits—emphasizing both unity and individuality within the ensemble.
