Kerinduan / Ketawang Yitmo (score)

This piece presents Kerinduan (“Longing”), a vocal melody and poem by Aloysius Sutikno, set to the Ketawang Yitmo of R.L. Martopangrawit. Composed during Sutikno’s studies in England, the work expresses deep longing for his children and family, intertwining personal emotion with Javanese musical tradition. Notes by Jody Diamond clarify the relationship between Sutikno’s setting and Martopangrawit’s original score, as well as the notational practices used for vocal and instrumental parts.
